Jeffrey Chin has nineteen years of experience in the banking and finance industry, of which he has ten years of experience with foreign and local banks, working in Treasury, Investment Banking and Risk Management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the National University of Singapore, majoring in Economics, Mathematics and Computer Programming.
He served as Vice President of Development Bank of Singapore (DBS), in Interest Rate Derivatives/Structuring, Global Financial Markets. He dealt with relationship managers from corporate advisory, private banking and retail banking, supporting them in valuation, hedging and managing of positions and risks of clients’ portfolios. He is proficient in pricing of complex foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives structures for customers, including asset yield enhancement and liability hedging products.
Prior to joining DBS, Jeffrey also served in United Overseas Bank (UOB) as Vice President and Head, Asset Liability Management, Risk Management & Compliance. He was a member of the Interest Rate Working Committee for consultation in forecasting of interest rates, loans/deposit pricing, new product strategies and balance sheet management. He led and supervised a team to oversee the production and accuracy of the risk reports package to top management, i.e. Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO). He was also the Secretariat for ALCO. Jeffrey has in-depth knowledge and analysis of the balance sheet structure of the entire Bank Group (including subsidiary banks and overseas operations), interest rate risk, liquidity risk, net interest margin (NIM) and return of equity (ROE) value drivers. He also worked with software vendors to model the bank’s balance sheet with projections in the bank’s businesses and applying different market scenarios.
Stepping out from the banking industry, Jeffrey has set up and managed several successful businesses in the financial and IT industries. As a Director in Strategic Consultancy, Jeffrey is in-charge of the business in incorporation, corporate secretarial, payroll and IT services. He is also responsible for formulating marketing strategies and is the driver for business development.
